The month of May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. Over the past 15 years there has been a 357% increase in Lyme Disease cases nationwide and DE ranks 4th in the nation for reported cases.



To raise awareness, Dr. Krista Griffin will be hosting an official Film Festival Selection documentary about Lyme Disease called, The Quiet Epidemic at Lefty’s Alley and Eats on May 10th at 6:00pm.



The Quiet Epidemic follows a young girl from Brooklyn and a Duke University scientist both diagnosed with a disease said not to exist: Chronic Lyme Disease. Their search for answers lands them in the middle of a vicious medical debate. What begins as a patient story evolves into an investigation into the history of Lyme Disease, dating back to its discovery in 1975. A paper trail of suppressed scientific research and buried documents reveal why tick-borne diseases have been allowed to quietly spread around the globe.



Doors open at 5:00pm. Movie starts at 6:30 followed by a moderated roundtable Q & A with experts, advocates and survivors.
